Position: Peer Support Specialist Team Lead [58]

Program: Amarillo, Texas – 1115 Waiver

Salary: $18.51/hr. – $21.47/hr. (depending on experience)

Shift available: Full-time

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Staff will maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful Trauma-Informed Care language

Works as the Program Team Lead

Develops and submits monthly reports to Quality Management

The Mental Health Peer Specialist works in both the group and one-on-one setting with individuals who use behavioral health services to produce recovery framing and outreach in a community setting
Shares personal recovery experiences and develops authentic and supportive peer-to-peer relationships
Provides education and advocacy within the community that promotes awareness of psychiatric disorders or substance use disorders while reducing misconceptions
Develops peer services and recovery goals and keeps the treatment team informed about the individual’s strengths and obstacles in relation to their recovery goals
Complies with and completes all documentation requirements related to the peer program in a timely basis, as directed
Adheres to TPC Business Code of Conduct and reports concerns if ethical and/or business standards defined in the code are compromised
Required qualifications to be successful in the job:

High school diploma or GED
One semester (12 credit hours) of accredited college work; or minimum of eighth grade reading comprehension level as evidenced by score on the Adult Basic Learning Examination (ABLE) test
For Mental Health Peer Specialist, must have received mental health services/treatment for one (1) year cumulative, for a diagnosis that is treated in the target population for Texas, which include bipolar, depression, or schizoaffective disorders
The candidate for Recovery Support Peer Specialist must have had a major life disruption due to a substance use disorder, provide evidence (may be included in a cover letter) of such, and be in remission/recovery from the substance use disorder
If not already certified, must complete and earn certification as a Mental Health Peer Specialist and/or Recovery Support Peer Specialist within one (1) year from hire date
Must be able to become credentialed as a Peer Specialist Supervisor
Must be able to become credentialed as a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS)
Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable under agency vehicle policy
Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred qualifications to be successful in the job:

Bilingual
Active status as a Certified Mental Health Peer Specialist, Recovery Support Peer Specialist, or Peer Specialist Supervisor in Texas, in good standing
