Looking for certified RSPS. Must have valid DL and current certification. Normal hours are 8-5 M-F but must be flexible, may need to work some evenings and weekends. Must have computer skills in Windows, Excel, Access, Word, and CMBHS.
Job Summary
The Peer Coach plays a vital role in supporting individuals on their journey to recovery and wellness. This position involves providing guidance, encouragement, and practical assistance to clients facing challenges related to addiction, mental health, and behavioral health issues. The Peer Coach utilizes their lived experience and training to foster a supportive environment that promotes personal growth and empowerment.
Duties
Establish trusting relationships with clients to facilitate open communication and support.
Provide mentorship and guidance based on personal experiences in recovery or overcoming behavioral health challenges.
Assist clients in developing coping strategies and life skills through motivational interviewing techniques.
Conduct individual and group sessions focused on crisis intervention and management.
Collaborate with mental health professionals to create comprehensive care plans tailored to each client’s needs.
Facilitate access to community resources, including addiction counseling services, social work support, and behavioral health programs.
Monitor client progress and provide feedback to help them stay motivated and engaged in their recovery journey.
Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions, progress notes, and any relevant assessments.
Qualifications
Experience or training in addiction counseling, behavioral health, or mental health counseling is preferred.
Strong mentoring skills with the ability to inspire others through shared experiences.
Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and systems related to mental health care.
Proficiency in motivational interviewing methods to encourage client engagement.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to connect with diverse populations.
A background in social work or related fields is a plus.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions.
Certification or training as a Recovery Support Peer Specialist is required .
