Job Overview

Please note the work location for this position will alternate between Austin and Cedar Park, TX.
The Recovery Support Peer Specialist (RSPS) will work in partnership with all individuals who may benefit from recovery support services, whether at the drop-in recovery center, through technological means, or in the community. The RSPS will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, navigator, and motivator to individuals in or seeking recovery to promote recovery planning and goal realizations, which may include reductions in harm from substance use and sustaining long-term recovery. The RSPS must demonstrate an ability to facilitate recovery planning that follows diverse recovery pathways (including medication and moderation), consciously share personal recovery experiences as appropriate, develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships, and have an understanding of and respect for each individual’s unique path to recovery. Your unique perspective will help create a supportive environment that encourages personal growth and recovery.

Responsibilities

Provide peer-based recovery support services to individuals contemplating or actively seeking help with recovery by introducing and supporting many recovery pathways.
Introduce and support many pathways to recovery.
Demonstrate recovery-oriented behaviors, attitudes, and concepts when engaging in relationship-building with individuals or with community partners.
Provide recovery education to individuals for every phase of the recovery journey.
Support and promote educational initiatives for peer workforce development training.
Strategically share your lived experience story to foster inspiration, hope, self-empowerment, and the peer recovery culture.
Promote community awareness through targeted outreach, education, and collaborative partnerships.
Participate in daily shift debriefs when needed, as well as weekly staff meetings and/or weekly individual and/or monthly group supervision according to TAC.
Administrative duties include creating spreadsheets, Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, digital media, and regular digital communication via email, group messaging apps, etc.
Actively identify and support linkages to community resources that support the individual’s goals and interests.
Maintain project logs, reports, and accurate records in appropriate files and database(s), adhering to program standards.
Maintain and practice current understanding of federal, state, and local confidentiality rules and regulations.
Create and present and/or speak publicly and in small groups using evidence-based research.
RESPONSIBLE FOR RENEWING CERTIFICATIONS
Other duties as assigned by the Program Director and/or Executive Director
Qualifications

Certified Recovery Support Peer Specialist, Reentry Peer Specialist, or Recovery Support Peer Specialist Intern, OR Mental Health Peer Specialist with lived experience related to personal recovery from substance use and willingness to obtain TCB RSPS certification within 6 months of hire with at least one year of experience working or volunteering in community-based recovery settings.
A background check will be required for staff who will work with youth, inside criminal justice settings, or other settings as determined by the Executive Director.
Reliable and insured personal transportation.
High school diploma/GED.
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
Strong mentoring skills with the ability to inspire others through shared experiences.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 – $19.00 per hour
