Recovery Support Peer Specialist

The Abilene Recovery Council currently has one full-time (40 hours per week) position open for a Peer Recovery Coach.

We are seeking someone who has lived experience in substance use recovery, supports multiple pathways of recovery, and is highly motivated to coach their peers while adhering to person-centered, recovery-oriented principles such as peer self-determination.

Job Duties:

· Assist in the implementation of RSS program services as assigned by the RSS Program Director and executive leadership.

· Provide accurate participant information for the computer database system, services, and measures documentation.

· Attend training specific to the program’s responsibilities and requirements.

· Maintain effective record keeping, ensuring that all files are complete, kept in good order, and secured to protect participant confidentiality. Strive toward the highest standards of professional conduct.

· Offer RSS services to individuals, families, and communities within the RSS service area which may include, but are not limited to: providing recovery check-ups, assisting in recovery planning, conducting reach-in efforts for justice-involved peers, life skills education, mentoring, transportation supports, planning and implementing social activities, and providing referrals to other support services.

· Obtain and maintain active CPR and First Aid certification within 60 days of the date of hire.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on a team and communicate effectively- orally and in writing.

· Ability to maintain effective working relationships with participants and community agencies.

· Ability to maintain current knowledge of prevention, intervention, and recovery techniques, information on alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs use, abuse, and addiction, and available programs and services.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality of participants and their families/partners.

· Ability to maintain required credentials.

Qualifications:

· High school graduate or GED.

· Certified Recovery Support Peer Specialist (RSPS), or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
