We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in providing support and guidance to individuals navigating their mental health and addiction recovery journeys. The ideal candidate will utilize their personal experiences and training to foster hope, resilience, and empowerment among clients, helping them achieve their recovery goals. **APPLICANTS MUST HAVE A MENTAL HEALTH PEER SPECIALIST CERTIFICATION (MHPS) THROUGH THE STATE OF TEXAS.**
Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one support to individuals in recovery, sharing personal experiences to inspire hope and motivation.
Facilitate group sessions focused on recovery strategies, coping skills, and personal development.
Assist clients in developing personalized recovery plans that align with their goals.
Employ crisis intervention techniques to support clients during challenging situations.
Utilize motivational interviewing methods to encourage clients to explore their feelings and behaviors related to recovery.
Collaborate with mental health professionals, social workers, and addiction counselors to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in behavioral health systems.
Qualifications
Certification as a Peer Specialist or equivalent credential is required.
Experience in behavioral health settings, particularly with mental health counseling or addiction counseling, is preferred.
Strong understanding of crisis management techniques and the ability to implement them effectively.
Excellent mentoring skills with a passion for helping others navigate their recovery journeys.
Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques and their application in peer support settings.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining a client-centered approach.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour
