What is PeerForce?

Our mission is to support Peers and aspiring Peers in finding meaningful employment and making a positive impact in their communities.
Is PeerForce Free?
PeerForce is a non-profit organization that provides 100% free services to individuals interested in becoming Peer Support Specialists. We aim to make the process of becoming a peer specialist accessible to everyone and remove barriers to a carer in mental health.
What do I need to be a Certified Peer Specialist?<br />
1. Meet the age requirement of 18 years or older
2. Have personal experience with mental health and/or substance use issues
3. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
4. Willing to share one’s recovery story in a suitable manner
5. Able to show ongoing self-directed recovery journey
6. Pass any required criminal history and registry background checks.
How do I get Started to Enroll in the Certification?
1. Sign up for PeerForce and complete the Self-Assessment, Orientation, and Attestation Course Module.
2. Enrolling in Core training with a training entity that offers training at a time and date that is convenient for you.
3. Enrolling in Speciality training for your chosen certification MHPS, RHPS, or CFP.
How can I apply for Financial Aid?
To apply for financial aid, visit our financial aid page and review the available options. Each training entity has specific requirements. Make sure you meet them before submitting your application
Is Being a Peer Specialist a Good Career Path?

Which Certification is right for me?
To choose the right certification in Peer Support, consider your lived experience. If you have lived experience with a mental health condition, then the MHPS (Mental Health Peer Support) certification may be the right fit for you. If you have lived experience with substance abuse, then the RSPS (Recovery Support Peer Specialist) certification may be the right fit.
