Certified Recovery Peer Support Specialist
Recovery Resource Council is seeking a full-time certified peer support specialist. Provides peer
support services to individuals in a consumer-friendly manner and in accordance with the Health
and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Statement of Work. Reports to the assistant director
of special populations East Campus and works with other staff to ensure that services area being
delivered. Proof of COVID vaccination is required prior to being considered for employment at
Recovery Resource Council.
Job duties and responsibilities:
Participate as a member of the street outreach team engaging individuals and offering recovery
support services. Share personal recovery experiences and develop authentic peer-to-peer
relationships. Strengthen existing community connections and build new ones that can help
people move forward in their own recovery journey. Assist individuals with identifying their
own interests, gifts, skills, passions, life goals, and hopes for the future, as well as personal
sources of resilience and hope. Assist people with identifying and connecting with the supports
and services that will help them sustain their wellness and recovery over time. Conduct
interviews to assist individuals with identifying their short- and long-term needs, preferences,
and goals related to services. Provide recovery support services to individuals who require both
short- and long-term support and interventions. Work in partnership with community
collaborators to provide individualized recovery support services. Support individuals in
developing comprehensive recovery wellness plans. Support individuals in identifying and
strengthening their relationships with recovery allies. Work with social service agencies to
arrange to meet individual’s needs for housing, food, clothing, financial assistance, etc.
Potentially facilitate peer support groups in which participants help one another identify personal
strengths and interests, build social relationships, create hope for the future and cope with
stressors. Conduct recovery check-ups with individuals who have transitioned from treatment
settings into community settings. Participate in orientation, training, staff meetings and
supervision.
