Job Summary

We are seeking multiple Peer Support Specialist to support peer programming for people with IDD/DD. Our ideal candidate is a person living with an intellectual developmental disability who also has experience in self advocacy and advocacy for others. We seek a peer who has a variety of life experiences – including trauma and healing and accessing disability or social services, such as long term care, employment services and afforable housing.

We are hiring multiple Peers with IDD/DD, who will work as a team and they will receive training and support from a larger team of 4 Peer Support Specialists who also work for Imagine Art.

These Peers with IDD/DD can expect to receive the following benefits:

receive extensive training for peer support
earn a certification as a peer support specialists in IDD/DD
gain valuable experience facilitating peer support meetings
gain valuable experience providing coaching to their peers.

Duties
– Complete and maintain certification status.
– Lead peer support groups.
– Provide 1:1 coaching to peers, helping them to navigate systems and services.
– Participate on a team to facilitate classes and workshops.
– Participate on a team and/or faciliate peer led conversations or support peer led activities, outings or events.

REQUIRED Experience
– Lived experience as a person living with an intellectual developmental disability.
– Live experience in trauma/healing, self advoacacy or advocacy for others.
– Teachable / Ability to communicate and facilitate conversations.
– Able to use a computer, email, survey forms, and make phone calls.
– Reliable transportation, flexibility to move around the community (various locations).

PAYMENT INFORMATION :

Our base rate will be $15/hour and this is a part time position based on a total program budget of $40,000. We recognize that individuals may have unique situations that limiting earning. Imagine Art is flexible to tailor the work and hours to accommodate the individual. This may include monthly stipend vs. hourly or modified schedules and/or terms of payment to ensure that benefits are not lost.
